Fiber is the Bomb

Journal Entry: Fri Feb 29, 2008, 7:50 PM
Just upgraded from 12Mbs ADSL to 100 Mbs Fiber

It's strange to experience DA with absolutely no lag and I have to say, I'm lovin' it =D

oooooh that's fast
given that it's taken Australia ages to even get to ADSL2+, I can't see myself getting that fast stuff....well, ever!

It's the same for Canada, in general the connections are much slower and if you do want fiber it's about 3 times less bandwidth for 3 times the cost.

You're always welcome to come over and play though Karen =D

Lucky bugger. I had Verizon fiber for about three months (not 100MBPS, but still), and I had to give it up because I had to move. Now, a year and a half later, the town I'm in now (after yet another move!) won't come to an agreement with Verizon to bring fiber into town. :\

I feel for you, I think I would go crazy to go back to ADSL again even though I've only had this for a short time.

It used to be quite difficult to get here actually, but Japanese providers have figured out that with the huge amounts of people here it's actually cheaper to provide fiber service as the signal doesn't degrade over a distance so it's super cheap in an attempt to get more people to sign on
