A 'Jizo' statue surrounded by Japanese Prayer Sticks

The Jizo signifies one who devotes his or her life to freeing others from suffering. They are not worshipped, but are highly revered in the Buddhist religion. They act as guides for souls on their way to the afterlife concealing them from demons by hiding them under their cloaks.

Shot at a small Buddhist temple in Tokyo, Japan
