This tutorial outlines my basic work-flow when converting images to black and white in Photoshop CS2. I hope you find it useful. =)

Please note-- this is an intermediate level tutorial, based on the assumption that the reader has a basic knowledge masks, layers, etc and the Photoshop tools.

Not bad, but I prefer the Black and White adjustment layer. Complete control over all 6 channels.

As do I... this is an older tutorial, I learned on old school photoshop before the b and w adjustment was available but I've changed my methods =)

I have, too, since that comment was made...I now do all my BW conversions in Lightroom. It's the same principle as the BW adjustment layer, but I can apply it directly to the RAW develop rather than the TIFF. Plus, I have LR 3.4, which has a little more advanced processing tech than PS CS3. The conversions end up looking a little cleaner to me.

Thank you my friend =)

It's somewhat obsolete now though, converting to b and w is so much easier now with CS4
